Planning to Coach Volleyball?

Reasons to coach volleyball. When coaching volleyball, leadership skills is an integral part in the personal development of an athlete.

Important Role Model for Kids

                       Teaching Kids can Be Fun

Whether we want to admit it or not, we are, to a large degree, a product of the influences of our parents, teachers, and coaches.

How we reacted to those influences shaped and may still be shaping our behavior as adults.

What do we believe about our players?

Is our belief about our players based on real knowledge of them as individuals or an attitude we possess?

Do we have racial and/or gender biases that may affect the way we perceive them and their actions?

Be careful not to dismiss the idea too quickly. Being politically correct outwardly doesn’t completely relieve us of the responsibility to ourselves and our teams to examine our inner attitudes and work to correct those that are negative.

Our Athletes Need Positive Role Models

Too many of our highly skilled professional athletes exhibit many negative character traits.

We need to be people whom our athletes believe in.

We certainly can’t be perfect, but we can make an effort to be the kind of people that they can look up to.

Exhibit High Trust

The most productive atmosphere we can have on our teams is one of high trust.

The more we understand what motivates them, the more successful we will be as leaders.

Our level of success will depend greatly on our willingness to examine our own character honestly and make any necessary changes.
